What I'm doing with my blog

The thought of  what I'm going to do with my blog crossed my mind the other day. I don't know if I'm going to keep it or shut it down. I thought about shutting it down but this blog has so many good memories. At the same time I might not post at all so it would just be a ghost blog. I'm not sure what to do with it maybe I'll keep it for the momries maybe I'll just shut down this chapter of my life.

Beatrice- the suicide project

- a sign is losing interest in things that were once interested in, and saying things like I wish ive never existed


Victoria- why are women judged for sleeping around and men are not?

Women judge each other for sleeping around

Guys actually get praised for sleeping with a lot of people
Be careful who you sleep with and be educated about sex

Michael kurgens presantation- didn't explain anything didn't answer any questions and only played a video that went to fast to take any notes

Jesus Olivera- having good oral hygiene is important because it will effect your health the most when you think about it
- poor oral hygiene can cause disease
- brush you're teeth 2-3 times a day for six minutes and floss


Tanya- make up is controversial because it's tested on animals and may be harmful
- teens use make up because they have a low self esteem

Dominic- played a video about always giving yourself a new purpose so that you never get lazy or sad or depressed

Noelia- judgement can be good like in the workplace you can judge someone or yourself and improve
- but judgment can be bad because for example walking down the street and seeing someone with an ugly shirt and saying "I would never buy that"

Avelina- do you think you can live with out social media? Well the message I'm getting from the video is that we all use social media to be accepted or to be fake. The girl in the video would post about something and do the opposite she would post that she's about to go for a run than go back to sleep after. She would get likes but was never really happy at the end she dropped her phone and went outside I'm still not whiter sure what the message is I guess to put the phone down and go outside enjoy life.

I'd like to make a note that half if today's presentations were bad Dominic, Michael, and avelina only showed a video and didn't explain anything at all this wouldn't have happened if dr Preston was here.

Today in class Carlos had us make an electric motor! It was pretty cool because once the copper coil started spinning it didn't stop for awhile and it was spinning pretty fast. The copper wire eventually started getting really hot and I burned some dead skin on my finger. I didn't feel the heat so I kept it there until it hurt... oops

IGNITE TALK

So my question is what makes us human? what gives us emotion?because in todays world we can program artificial intelligence but they arent human. i read an article about why AI's arent human. the article said that AI's like R2D2 for example have sensors data and computation to preform tasks like humans but in the end they are just software. meaning that they arent self aware. A connection i made was when we were reading Fahrenheit 451 and the mechanical hound was a dead living beast it was programmed to function like a dog but not at all like a dog. i think i want to learn how to program next to get a better understanding of AI's.

what i did over spring break #1

First day of spring break i ended up staying up all night and binge watched the show "13 reasons why" i watched it because i kept hearing people talking about it so i wanted t know what was up. Its a very good show and i learned that i can stay up for a very long time and still function correctly. this didnt really help me understand my topic but gave me more questions like why does such a sad show interest so many people.

My Big question is mt topic what makes humans human? In today's world we have Artificial intelligence but they aren't human so what makes us human?

essay on Option #1

            Ray Bradbury hates Beatty and loves Clarisse. It is very obvious that Bradbury didnt like Beatty its clear in his tone towards Beatty. Its also very clear that he loves Clarisse.

           Ray Bradbury made Clarisse a "crazy" 17 year old. Clarisse actually talks to her family and enjoys nature which in there society is considered weird,its sadly the same thing in our society people don't go out as much as they used to, they don't enjoy nature, they go so fast that all the flowers and cows on the roadside are just blurs. People are so connected to technology that they are disconnected from reality, I am no exception. Bradbury made Clarisse the odd one out she changed the way Montag saw the world. Clarisse was almost like the "hope" of their society, that why she had to die. If Clarisse had never died Montag would probably never have done the things he did Clarisse was such a big part of the book but was only around for a few pages.

        Now Beatty is a different story. Bradbury makes Beatty the "law". Beatty was always suspicious of Montag even at the start of the book. When Montag was complaining about how the mechanical hound growled at him Beatty asked him if he was hiding something. Beatty wasnt completely serious but was right to be suspicious he was always causing that fear in Montag. Beatty also goes over to Montags house when Montag gets sick and lectures Montag about how reading is boring and people prefer shows and music now. Bradbury also killed off Beatty in a brutal way the way he described Beatty dying was gruesome. "he was a shrieking blaze, a jumping, sprawling, gibbering manikin, no longer human or known, all writhing flame on the lawn as Montag shot one continuous pulse of liquid fire on him. There was a hiss like a great mouthful of spittle banging a redhot stove, a bubbling and frothing as if salt had been poured over a monstrous black snail to cause a terrible liquefaction and a boiling over of yellow foam."  Bradbury gave Beatty a very slow, very painful death. Clarisses death was probably quick and painless because she got hit by a car, cars go up to 160 miles per hour.  

       Both Beatty and Clarisse influenced Montag one way or another Beatty kept fear in Montag and Clarisse lit a fire of hope in Montag. Bradbury had Clarisse change the way Montag saw everything without Clarisse this book wouldn't be the same. Beatty on the other hand was made to be the character that people don't like so than people got happy when he died. 

RUN MONTAG RUN

I think montag is gonna die at the end even though he tried so hard he'll just die.
That's it that's my prediction nothing else

THE CHASE IS ON

1. The hound attacked montage because montag killed Beaty and,from what I understand, was about to kill the others.

2. Montag lit the mechanical hound on fire while it was in mid air. The dog still bit his leg though .

3. Montag realized that Beaty wanted to die because Beaty didn't try and save himself or get out of the way.

4. Montag was headed to Faber's home but stopped at a gas station.

5.Montag heard a police car and tried to cross the street and about halfway he dropped a book that he was holding

1. I think that its pleasurable to burn the book rather than read them because its easier and faster. Everyone in Montags society seems to live fast and they never really sit down and relax they dont sit down and read.. another reason might be that they are brainwashed into thinking that books are bad so they burn them then burn the ashes.. apparently its against the law to read anyway so...

2. I think that the books are compared to birds because the ashes are flying away

3. Montag lives a very simple ordinary life, whereas clarrise is different from everyone else she enjoys everything around her.

4. Most of the tech in F451 was predicted and the tech does nothing to improve their lives because people still try and kill themselves. the technology if anything made them more depressed.

5. this question confused me and honestly not quite sure why the narrator chose to put us in this time of montags life,but i am excited to read about  it.

6. The author probably introduces Clarisse first because she plays a much bigger roll than his wife Mildred.

7. Maybe all the houses are fire proof because people didnt want to pay for fire departments to put out fires anymore other than that im not sure why they would be fire proof

8.   Mildred requires emergency services because she attempted to commit suicide. she got her stomach pumped and a blood transfusion to get all the the sleeping pills that she had taken out of her system.

9. The mechanical hound seemed like entertainment for the other firemen. the hound severed as a police force almost and growled at Montag maybe the dog knows about what hes hiding.

HIGH SCHOOL S POINTLESS

Today at my school we had a Collage Fair and it got me really excited for collage so later when i got home i started talking to my sister about it. While we were talking i started to realize that high school hasnt prepared me for life at all... I have learned pointless things for the last three years.Now i understand that learning the history of this country is important. I know that  there are important subjects BUT i feel/know that i have forgotten most of what ive learned already... and i still have not really learned any important life skills that could and should be taught in school considering that they say they are preparing you for life. I still dont know how to write a check, a resume , pay bills,etc. these are all IMPORTANT skills that i HAVE to know and yet have not been taught yet. Some say well you have your parents for that but isnt school that place STUDENTS go to LEARN and PREPARE for the rest of their lives?....Thank you Dr. Preston for actually teaching us some of these important skills like time management which i forgot to mention and how to write a good resume. Several students dont know these things and need someone to teach them. High school is just pointless when you really think about it theres to much stress and projects that really arent preparing us for life... i guess they teach you some things like leadership, and you can teach yourself time management BUT wouldnt it be better if we had a whole class for that? I think we need our school system to change a bit.... If any important Education figure that can make some changes happen and wants to see some changes happen are reading this e-mail me or comment and we can have a conversation i can round up a bunch of students and really talk about what needs to change. I can go on and on about this but i think i leave that to another blog post on another day.

First Impression of "The Love song" by T.S. Elliot

This poem kinda confuses me I dont really understand... like is he in love or does he not like love is he dying or is he in his prime. I need to go through the poem a few more time to get a good understanding of it. The tone and title are "funny" like you almost expect the poem to be cheesy and corny and all about love but when youre reading it the tone is disappointed,depressing, and almost desperate  

Socratic seminar on The Great Gatsby notes

- Myrtle loves money more than Tom

- before ww1 the arch duke of Austria was assassinated and then the war started , its almost the same same as if Daisy wasn't driving or took a different turn than maybe Myrtle wouldn't have died therefore Gatsby wouldn't have died

- Gatsby is like Richard Cory because many people were envious of him and wanted to be like him but in the end they both  die BUT Gatsby didn't kill himself like Richard Cory did...Richard Cory was unhappy but no one ever noticed Gatsby was unhappy because he didn't have Daisy's love.

- Daisy is either w ver weak women because she couldnt leave Tom
or she was a very strong woman that was selfish and was only with Tom for money

-the story took a dark turn fast with Myrtles death in chapter 7

-the theme is now death

- with the theme being death its a universal theme because every human knows what death is and can relate to it in one way or another

- Nick went over to Gatsby's house and when he left they said goodbye a lot, it felt like the story was gonna end there

- It turns out that it was there last goodbye because.....Gatsby was shot and killed by Wilson

-Wilson killed himself after killing Gatsby

- Gatsby is now dead... that hasn't really sunk in yet to be honest

-The book foreshadowed his death by making the season Fall when trees are losing there leaves and things die

-Gatsby's house was also not really "alive" anymore there was dust, a musty smell, stale cigarettes, just very gloomy and dead

Great Gatsby chapter 1

To be completely honest I didn't understand a lot of chapter one. The green light at the end of the dock is something that i will always know from The Great Gatsby because in black ops 3 zombies there is an easter egg. the zombies map is based around the same time as the Great Gatsby so on a part of the map there is a dock and at the end of the dock theres a green light.other than that i know that theres a guy named nick that moved to new york and lives in a box surrounded by mansions. i also know that this is Gatsby's story through Nicks eyes. Its hard for me to pay attention to the begining of a book so that about all i know.

MUSIC AS LITERATURE

I think Music can be identified as literature because literature is the collective works of a culture or imaginative or creative writing of recognized artistic value. Many artists get very creative in their music just like in poems. A  novel is no different authors use their creative thinking to make amazing stories so i do consider  music as literature because its a way people can express themselves a way a culture can express itself and its no different  from  a novel or song lyrics are like a poem when you think about it.
